It’s hard to open up when you’re not sure who will actually understand. Maybe you’ve been navigating stress or anxiety for so long that it just feels normal now. Or you’re feeling off in ways you can’t quite explain, pulled between wanting to feel better and not knowing where to start. I work with adults, and I’m especially experienced in helping people through stressor-related disorders like PTSD and adjustment issues, as well as anxiety, mood disorders, and ADHD. I also support clients who identify as neurodivergent and those navigating complex trauma, psychotic disorders, or personality disorders. Our work together will be collaborative, respectful, and rooted in whole-person care. I’ll never assume I know more than you do about your own life. My role is to offer tools, insights, and space to walk with you while you make sense of what matters most to you. I like to share psychoeducation when it’s helpful, and I also trust that you bring your own knowledge, history, and wisdom to the table. In our sessions, we’ll look at what’s working, what’s not, and how your values, what actually matters to you, can shape the way forward. I support clients in practicing self-regulation skills and exploring the impact of trauma and life stressors with honesty and care. I integrate dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and internal family systems (IFS), depending on your needs. IFS is an attachment-focused modality that can help you identify limiting beliefs, explore inner dynamics, and strengthen your relationship with yourself and others. My approach is compassionate, curious, and nonjudgmental. I want therapy to feel like a space where you don’t have to edit yourself, where you can show up exactly as you are and trust that we’ll figure things out together. I’ve worked with individuals in rural, suburban, and urban communities, and my generalist social work training helps me understand the systems that shape our lives, family, work, school, relationships, identity, and how they intersect with our mental health. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in psychiatric rehabilitation with people experiencing serious and persistent mental illness. That experience taught me how deeply mental health is connected to safety, housing, connection, and access to care, and it continues to shape how I show up in the therapy room: with respect for your story, and a belief in your capacity for change. Outside of therapy, I recharge by listening to music or podcasts, catching up with friends, gardening when it’s warm out, drawing with oil pastels, and stretching. Therapy is serious work, but I bring warmth and humanity into the room, too. If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure if therapy will help, I get it. You don’t have to commit to anything long-term. Just reach out. We’ll take it one conversation at a time.
Do you ever feel weighed down by emotions you can’t seem to shake, like anxiety that keeps you up at night, or shame that lingers long after the moment has passed? Maybe you’re navigating the highs and lows of relationships, struggling with self-worth, or trying to break free from old coping patterns that no longer serve you. Whatever you’re carrying, it can feel overwhelming to face it on your own. I creates a space where you don’t have to hide or minimize your feelings. With warmth, empathy, and creativity, I help clients sit with difficult emotions, unpack painful experiences, and begin rewriting the story they tell themselves. My goal is to help you feel respected, heard, and empowered to live more authentically.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming. I understand the hesitation, so I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable, heard, and supported. I have experience working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, family dynamics, intimate partner violence, and feelings of isolation or disconnection. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin—just a willingness to show up as you are. Therapy doesn’t require the right words or a clear plan; it begins with having a place where your experiences can be shared openly, without judgment or pressure.
Hi ! I am Samah, a South Asian therapist originally from India. I specialize in working with students, including international students, people of color, and immigrants who are navigating not just academics, but identity, belonging, and the pressure to succeed. As an immigrant myself, I understand how cultural expectations can affect us and manifest as beliefs, patterns, and behaviors that may not serve us; therefore, we will navigate these concerns together in a way that allows you to uphold your cultural values while building a strong sense of self. I understand what it’s like to begin this journey away from family, balancing the guilt of leaving loved ones behind while trying to build a new life. It can feel like you’re living between two worlds: holding onto your cultural identity while also trying to adapt, grow, and find your place in a new environment. This experience can bring up feelings of isolation, anxiety, and self-doubt, even when things seem to be going well on the outside. In our work together, I aim to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and supported as your full self. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, academic pressure, or questions around identity and family, we can explore these challenges at your pace and help you feel more grounded and confident in who you are becoming.
The process of building a therapeutic relationship there has to be a level of comfort and ease with your therapist. This is important in order to be able to be able to talk about incidents from your past that are painful and difficult to face. Therapy is about what you need from your therapist. I use the person-centered approach. Everyone has a story to tell and it is important for you to not feel judged and to feel safe. As a therapist, I take my lead from you and what you want to work on to improve your situation. I believe that I can gain the information I need from you by having a conversation rather than you feeling like you are being interrogated. Your mental health is of the utmost importance to me, and as such, you set the agenda for your sessions as this is your therapy time and about what you need. I work with creatives, musicians, and artists struggling to find satisfaction in their careers and personal lives. I also help executives and professionals who are navigating workplace pressures. After 30 years as a musician and music industry executive, I know how the professional environment can impact your mental health. I provide a space where you can embrace vulnerability and improve communication skills. I can help you navigate imposter syndrome, manage stress, achieve career satisfaction, and navigate the unique pressures of the entertainment industry. Part of that process is “unlearning” the unhelpful dynamics we often unconsciously repeat. My job is to point out these tendencies to help you see why certain issues crop up and gain a new perspective. Together, we’ll collaborate in creating new patterns with better outcomes.
I’m a licensed master social worker (LMSW) with a Master of Social Work from Columbia University and certification as an Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist. Over the past several years, I’ve supported young adults navigating anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and life transitions, particularly during my work in an intensive outpatient program. I approach therapy with deep curiosity and a commitment to whole-person care, focusing on you as a complete individual rather than a collection of symptoms. My work is rooted in evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and trauma-informed care. I often incorporate creative reflection and introspection to help clients gain insight and discover more effective ways to manage emotions, relationships, and stress. When supporting individuals through grief, whether related to the loss of a loved one, an identity shift, or a chronic health condition, I draw from meaning-making frameworks and the dual-process model. Many of the individuals I work with experience relational stress, significant life transitions, or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Whether we’re building a personalized toolkit for managing anxiety or exploring how past experiences influence present behaviors, our sessions will be collaborative, affirming, and guided by your goals. Together, we’ll move at your pace to address challenges, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with what brings you a sense of meaning and direction. My style is compassionate, thoughtful, and grounded. I’m passionate about helping people feel empowered to reclaim their lives and connect more deeply with themselves and others. I particularly enjoy working with students and young adults, including those who identify as LGBTQ+, and I strive to create an inclusive, supportive, and genuine space. Outside of therapy, I find joy in simple routines—morning coffee, experimenting with new recipes, watching reality TV, reading, practicing yoga, and taking long walks. These small moments help keep me grounded and present—something I often encourage my clients to explore in their own lives. If you’re just beginning your therapy journey, know that it’s okay to move at your own pace and ask questions. Finding the right fit matters, and you deserve a therapist who feels aligned with your needs. Therapy isn’t about being fixed. It’s about discovering your strengths, understanding your story, and creating a life that feels more manageable and meaningful.
I am passionate about treating individuals and helping them work toward optimal development. In facilitating treatment, I utilize a client-centered approach as well as strategies of prevention, intervention, and remediation to assist in developing effective coping skills and responses to the environment. As your therapist, I will collaborate with you to form a new path toward healing. From there, we will explore a goal or two that you would like to work toward. Throughout the clinical process, we will explore and discuss achievements, milestones, and progress. I like to use a reflective process to ensure you feel as though you are benefiting from sessions.
