I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults on issues such as depression, anxiety, relationships, life transitions, self-esteem, and grief. I typically use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy strategies when working with clients. My therapeutic alliance with clients is one of unconditional positive regard and acceptance. I encourage clients to use their therapy sessions to focus on themselves and their needs at that time. Together, we will develop a plan to address whatever issues are keeping them stuck in an uncomfortable place.

Have you been resonating with the autistic experience that you're seeing others talk about? Are you suffering from autistic burnout after a lifetime of heavily masking your “real self”? Do you hold yourself to ridiculously high standards, then feel defeated when things don’t go perfectly? Is your connection with others not quite what you pictured it being at this stage in life? Does work completely exhaust you, but you can’t quite find a job that lights you up? I offer Autism evaluations and therapy to adults.

As an experienced psychiatric and family nurse practitioner it is my duty to positively impact you as your embark on your mental health journey. The associated stigma and biases relative to medication management oftentimes results in delayed care and perceived misconception. My approach integrates trauma informed and evidence-based practices with personalized care, curated to meet your unique needs. Mental health wellness is a journey, and I would be honored to be a part of yours. I graduated from the College of William and Mary with a concentration in addictions treatment. My clinical interests include the treatment of high functioning depression, anxiety, substance abuse disorders, and binge eating disorder. Are you craving a life that feels more aligned with who you truly are? Maybe you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, or late-discovered neurodivergence — and you're tired of masking, doubting, or feeling like you’re too much. If so, I want you to know: you’re not broken. You’re becoming. I work with Autistic and ADHD adults (especially late-diagnosed), highly sensitive people, and anyone healing from trauma or learning to trust themselves again. I offer EMDR and a neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed approach that honors your pace, your truth, and your nervous system. You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. You’re allowed to be exactly where you are. If you’re ready to explore what life can look like when you stop hiding and start healing, I’d be honored to walk with you.

Have you been feeling overwhelmed, unworthy, misunderstood? Do you find yourself questioning what’s next? Perhaps it feels like something is off course or missing from your life. We all go through periods of uncertainty and doubt, and sometimes we need help finding our way through. I offer a safe place to work through mental health and life issues. While I'm an expert on mental health I view you as the expert on you. We will combine our expertise to meet your goals. I'm a mental health counselor who guilds clients towards productive thinking, effective emotion regulation, and assertive communication. This will entail more than talking. Life is about action and so is therapy! I treat the whole person, using an eclectic approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe all dimensions of our health interconnect to form a complete picture. Whatever we do to our body affects our mind and our spirit. A similar relationship exists between our thoughts, emotions, and actions. A meaningful change in one of these areas will affect the others. This reciprocal relationship between our thoughts, emotions and actions is known as the cognitive triad. Example: Imagine you’re anxious about speaking in front of the class tomorrow. o You’re probably telling yourself all the reasons you can’t do it. That negative self-talk leads to anxiety and feelings of worthlessness. o As a result, you are actually more likely to perform poorly. o What if you talked to yourself differently? o Try encouraging yourself...listing all the reasons you can do it! o Your anxiety will likely decrease. Instead of feeling worthless, you’ll probably feel prepared and ready to present! o If you enter the classroom with the mindset that you can do it, then you’re actually more likely to succeed! I've been a counselor for over 8 years. Why did I become a counselor? Simple. I want to help people heal. I remember that feeling of helplessness as I watched people suffer throughout my childhood. I knew that when I grew up, I needed to do something to help. Accepting the call to become a counselor is the best decision I’ve ever made! As a counselor I am able to help others walk through life's challenges without feeling overcome by them. I began counseling clients of all ages in 2016. I transitioned to remote/telehealth counseling in 2020, and this year I launched my private practice. I currently counsel teens (ages 13-17), adults (18-100) and couples.

I am passionate about helping other people improve their health and have dedicated my nursing career toward continually achieving this goal. I am honored to have been a registered nurse for 17 years, with most of that time spent in a major metropolitan hospital responding to medical emergencies as part of the facility’s Rapid Response Team. After gaining a wealth of experience performing rapid assessments and thus improving the physiological and mental health needs of patients in crisis, it made sense for me to evolve and find a niche that focused solely on psychiatric-mental health nursing. I approach new clients with the belief that they should be encouraged to speak freely, which is a fundamentally important step towards establishing clear goals and objectives. Furthermore, I would like my clients to feel comfortable being an active participant and engaged in improving their mental well-being. The goal of our time together is quite simply to help you start to feel better and improve the quality of your life. I would like you to feel comfortable enough to share the issues that are most challenging and burdensome so that we may work towards addressing them head on. Our initial encounter will include learning your history, how you’ve been feeling, any past successes and/or failures with medications, and then collaborating towards a plan to achieving the goal of feeling better and improving your mental health.

Feeling stuck might be preventing you from moving forward and living your best life. You may be feeling overwhelmed, and it may seem like you’re facing more stress than you can handle. Due to my background and experiences, I would especially enjoy the opportunity to work with nontraditional students, first-generation students, and international students. Please contact me today for your free initial 20-minute phone conversation. I look forward to hearing from you!
