People often come to therapy to try to understand something: something about themselves, their relationships, or their past experiences. I enjoy joining my clients in these moments of exploration with warmth, attunement, and collaboration. I specialize in working with people of marginalized experiences and identities. If you have ever felt like an outsider because of your identities, past experiences, sensitivity, gifts, or because of how you live in this world, you deserve a space that is dedicated to your healing and growth. Main character energy is something that you deserve to give off. Why? Because this is your life and everyone deserves to live the life that they want to live (yes, including you), and I deeply believe this. Since this is something I am passionate about, I will work with you to help make sure that you are able to live life fully and happily. I do this through active listening, patience, open mindedness, kindness, and support. I ensure that you will have a space that is welcoming to be who you are, as you are, safe and judgment free. I know that college is a whole new world, with new fun experiences and stress. I will partner with you to navigate the unique challenges of adjusting to school, friends, independence, and this stage of life. Whether you are experiencing; stress, anxiety, depression, or any unpleasant emotion. You are not alone, and together we will make sure that you are living a life aligned with your goals! Together, we will identify strategies to help you achieve those goals. As the expert of your own experiences, feel free to provide feedback and actively participate in the therapeutic process. It's a team effort, and my goal is to ensure that you get the most out of our sessions, so you can live a life aligned with your goals. Remember, you are not alone, and together we will navigate and overcome any challenges you may face. As an African American woman living in Chicago, I understand the pressure to ‘have it together’ or the need to be emotionally and mentally strong at all times. Life is extreme and when you add in the pressures to conform to the way of the world, life can be unbearable. Growing up on the west side of Chicago, I was able to see the inequities faced by brown and black people. I was able to see the negative impact of the injustices placed on the brown and black people. I was able to see the clear segregation of people, resources, and support and I am able to understand the pain the world has caused. My goal is to remind people of color that they are powerful, that their voices should be loud and clear, and that their presence is necessary. My passion is to be and create a safe space for those who struggle with just being. I enjoy working with the LGBTQIA+ community, the houseless community, and with Black Lives Matter to create a movement for equity, not just equality.

Life’s journey may bring times of challenge, uncertainty, and pain. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed, stuck, or powerless at times. Facing these moments alone can make them even harder. In therapy, I hope to collaborate with you to build a compassionate and empathetic relationship where it is safe to be curious, observe, reflect and grow. Together we’ll understand the sources of distress in the context of your identities and experiences, try out different coping skills and identify what works best for you. We will also explore ways to navigate difficult situations in your life to support you in being your most authentic self. As a therapist holding marginalized identities, I’m passionate about working with folks in the immigrant, BIPOC, neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities. My training focused on anxiety, depression, trauma, relational concerns, navigating oppression and discrimination, self-esteem, and grief. I enjoy helping clients find ways to live the life they envision. I provide therapy in both English and Mandarin.

That's where I come in – to help you heal, gain new insights and perspectives, and develop the tools you need to best care for yourself. At the heart of my approach is building an authentic, egalitarian therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, heard, and best able to work towards your goals in a supportive environment. Many of us have been wounded at some point in our lives. Psychological wounds have the capacity to change the way we view ourselves and the way we view and interact with others. Sometimes people experience difficulties articulating the way they feel or find themselves stuck in the same maladaptive patterns in relationships. Therapy can be a useful way to make sense of how your past may be affecting your emotional well being in the here-and-now by putting unformulated experiences into words to help you heal. Using a relational approach to therapy, I aspire to offer my clients the kind of empathic environment that empowers them to heal from the past, work through present-day difficulties, change long-standing patterns in relationships, and move forward in ways that are meaningful for them. If you are looking for a safe and nonjudgmental space to make meaning of your experience feel free to contact me. I value collaborating on ways to help you achieve your personal goals.

I enjoy supporting and empowering women who struggle with a variety of challenges. At times we can find ourselves feeling lost, out of control or unable to manage life’s difficult and unexpected roadblocks. I believe that the path towards health and wellness is a lifelong journey that takes place each day, one step at a time. Therapy is a courageous first step in the process of healing, and it is my privilege to walk alongside you in your therapeutic journey towards growth and transformation. I use a collaborative and humanistic approach to psychotherapy. I strongly value the relationship that is built between us and recognize the safety and trust needed in order to foster change. Together we will reflect on your personal history and deepen your understanding of your emotions, relationships, and what motivates you so that you can develop a stronger sense of self and establish greater meaning in your life. We will also identify ways to navigate and embrace life’s detours so you can feel empowered to manage the ongoing stressors that arise in our world today. I believe in the importance of exploring your lived experience within a multicultural context in order to discover the ways your social and cultural identities coexist together that may impact how you move through the world. I have worked extensively with individuals who experience symptoms of depression and anxiety, those who wish to discuss grief and loss issues, explore difficult relationships, process trauma, and help those develop a sense of identity and self-esteem. I integrate many evidenced-based therapeutic techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical and Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness approaches to help you take back control so that you can reach your goals and live a more purposeful life. Teens I am extremely passionate about working with adolescent girls. I understand that the idea of going to see a total stranger isn’t ideal for some and that oftentimes teens feel forced to come by their parents. Whatever the case may be, it is obvious that teenagers today are inundated with many academic, familial, peer, and societal pressures that can leave teens feeling incredibly overwhelmed. What I can offer is a safe place during your week or month to talk about these things. I have a breadth and depth of experience working with adolescents that struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, identity issues, low self-esteem, school anxiety and perfectionistic tendencies, difficulty managing relationships, and teens that have experienced trauma. I aim to help teens find their voice, figure out how to cope with life challenges, and better understand themselves along the way. Experience I am grateful to have a diverse training background which has afforded me the opportunity to learn from a wide range of humans in need within a variety of treatment settings providing individual, group, and couples therapy. My previous training within a therapeutic day school, community mental health center, and partial hospitalization program provide me with a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of adolescent development, adult needs, and implementation of successful intervention approaches. My clinical and research interests are situated in supporting individuals impacted by grief and loss in many forms. I am particularly passionate about the disenfranchised grief experience, which occurs when losses are unacknowledged by individuals and society. For this reason, I take great responsibility in advocating for those who are unseen and unheard.
