Whether you’re working toward personal goals, trying to break old patterns or hoping to find some peace, I’m here to offer a supportive space where we can figure things out together. Hi, I’m Zirley Macias, LCSW, a bilingual (English | Spanish) therapist who meets with California college students via secure tele-health. For nearly a decade I’ve helped undergrads and grad students untangle test anxiety, academic stress, low mood, social or roommate conflicts, and the identity questions that come with campus life. Sessions feel like a friendly, judgment-free zone that doubles as a launchpad for growth: we blend evidence-based tools—Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused, and strength-based techniques—and, if you wish, faith-informed perspectives. You’ll leave each meeting with a bite-sized practice exercise you can fit between classes and study sessions, turning insight into daily habits. Whether you’re adjusting to dorm life, juggling coursework and part-time work, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to help you find realistic solutions, stronger boundaries, and a sustainable sense of hope.

Whether you face life’s challenges, navigate family dynamics, struggle with difficult feelings, self-doubt, and being overwhelmed, you don’t have to do it alone. Together, we’ll uncover that sense of hope — a belief that things can improve. From there, we’ll take a meaningful journey, working side by side toward healing, growth, and renewed strength. Along the way, I’ll provide compassionate guidance, tailored support, and practical tools to help you reach your goals. My approach is collaborative, relational, and strengths-based, prioritizing a safe space, unconditional positive regard, and a strong therapeutic alliance. No matter where you are on your path, I’m here to walk with you. Every person has a unique story, and every journey is filled with opportunities for healing and connection. Let’s take that first step together.

Thanks for stopping by! I specialize in working with the following: Teen/Young Adult Issues- I help teens/young adults learn valuable skills that help them make sense of their thoughts, feelings, and values; this helps them be better equipped and empowered to make better decisions in their relationships, school, and work. Counseling with me can help teens and young adults build their confidence, bounce back from setbacks, focus on their goals, manage stress, and have healthy relationships. Men's Issues- Often, men appreciate practical tools that they can utilize to improve their lives right away. I like men to think of me as a mental personal trainer, rather than a traditional therapist. I support men with the following: anxiety, self-esteem, work performance, stress management, trauma/ptsd, and relationship issues. Athletes- As an avid athlete myself, I understand the importance of having a strong and healthy mental health when it comes to sport performance. I work with athletes who struggle with the following: measuring up with team mates, pre-game anxiety, substance use and coping, handling setbacks, injuries, balancing sports and life (ie. school, relationships).

My work draws from many years of helping adults, families, children, and couples in clinics, schools, and community settings. Therapy can be hard, so I want to make it comfortable for you. I'm a gamer and use video games in sessions to help you feel more at ease, build skills, and process your difficulties. I believe that therapy can heal, but I also know that telling a stranger about your deepest pain can be a strange feeling. Perhaps you've been feeling sad, depressed or worried, and hopeless that anything in your life can change. Or maybe you aren't sure what you would even want help with. You know you feel bad, but if someone were to ask you "How can I help?", you aren't sure what you would say. These problems can feel permanent and unsolvable. After all, something feels broken and unfixable, so how could you not feel that it takes all the energy you have just to get up in the morning and go about your day? Depression or anxiety can also feel isolating, as if nobody else could possibly understand. You may have even received advice from people who you feel mean well but can't understand what you're going through. Depression and anxiety are not permanent or unfixable, and therapy can help. Imagine feeling peace of mind, and excited about life and its possibilities. It starts by learning about you and going at your pace. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over 16 years experience working with adults and teens, I've seen therapy work, and I feel lucky that I get to be part of that journey for others. I work with adult individuals of any age, with a special focus on young adults.

I help students in a variety of areas. Whether a person is struggling with relationship difficulties (friendships or intimate relationships), worry, fear, stress, sadness, worthlessness, guilt, shame or whatever, I help people establish their preferences for living, and to break free from these problems. People who consult me and achieve their goals are people who do not want to be told what to do, diagnosed, or labeled in any way. They are people who experience problems like anybody else, who deserve respect, and to be heard and understood. They connect to their preferred relationships and identity. They work hard to achieve their goals.

Licensed Professional Counselor
San Francisco, CA

Great to meet you! As a board-certified licensed therapist, I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults with a variety of backgrounds. My primary goal is to create an authentic connection with each of my clients to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable. I believe that our past influences our present, especially when faced with challenging life experiences. Together, within our built safe space, we will explore how your past experiences influence your current thoughts and behaviors - to improve your awareness and identify areas for positive change. I believe in balancing validation and empathy with a directive, solution-focused approach that offers specific strategies to enact change. I treat anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, self-harm/suicidal ideation, substance use, anger management, grief, low self-esteem, relationship and family issues, identity development, and life transitions. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches because it is important to me to adapt my style to honor the current needs of each of my clients. I always begin our work together with an introductory session, when you’ll have the opportunity to share your story and what you hope to achieve through therapy. We’ll work together, collaborate on your goals and create a plan that feels most comfortable to you. Building trust is important to our therapeutic relationship, and will take our time easing into processing your thoughts and experiences. I will remain committed to supporting and guiding as we work together to make your goals a reality.

I work with non-linear thinkers who are searching for a therapist with intuitive wisdom who cherishes the divergent path. I specializes in connecting with ADHDers who have always felt different even if others couldn't tell. My clients are notoriously curious and adept improvisors, who are playfully creative, but they still feel perpetually out-of-sync with the world around them. They charm others with their insight and levity, and save the biting criticisms for themselves. So they end up feeling like anxious imposters, waiting to be exposed. Acquiescing to others has helped you get by without too many catastrophes, but deep down you can't keep convincing yourself that you're okay with just getting by. There's a deeper itch that's beckoning you into an alternative way of being. Yes, still different, but personal, integrated, aligned with your soul. I approach therapy as the life-changing work that it is, and while there's a serious commitment to exploring one's psyche, it doesn't mean you or I are required to take ourselves too seriously. Excavating one's own lived experience and the difficulty of navigating a world not built for you is not for the faint of heart, yet we continue to be curious, adapt, and play. I am intentional in creating and holding space for clients to find and share a more authentic version of themselves. Clients are well-met when they bring curiosity about their distinct approach to life, courage to speak what has been left unsaid, and compassion to nurture a deeper truth about themselves.

Monique Dozier, LCSW is a licensed therapist and founder of Journey to Genesis Mental Health Services. She has worked as a social worker for over a decade, and after years of supporting clients at various hospitals and nonprofits is redirecting her talent and experience to where her passion truly resides: her own community. She directly relates to the first-hand struggles of Black women, and especially Black mothers, face every day. As a mother to 2 vibrant, empowered girls, she also understands how necessary it is to build ourselves up higher than the world could ever tear us down. Monique created Journey to Genesis as a haven for the women tired of explaining themselves, the women tired of code-switching, and most importantly, the women tired of fighting to be heard.
